| technically it is, people make it, iit costs money to make, and by law (the complicated/technical bit) you need a license to use it because someone else made it (shit terminalogy but meh its law speak), which in english means you need to buy it so they can afford the cost of makin it and plus whether record companies charge to much or not the artists need to make a living, if their just gonna get their stuff nicked then eventually they wont bother to release it full stop |

| artists dont need money? writing the music is one thing, but I suggest you get off ya bum and try releasing an album yourself, trust me the equipment cost alone will burn a hole in your wallet, not to mention the studio costs and the amount of time you have to spend putting it together, it bankrupts people and as for independent artists piracy hurts them worse of all becuase they just dnt happen to have a rich record label to absorb what you steal, the ignorance of how the world works amazes me |
