This is the first song I thought of on 911. I could not think of the name or artist, just kept hearing the song playing over and over in my head. It is a good song, just because it's good. It's also prophetical. Maybe you'd have to be my age to see how things have changed.

I'm with lionheart042672 and seductiv! psychotwin will have a rude awaking. This winter will be a disaster, gas and heating fuel will blow by $5.oo like nothing. The liberals are going to the movies and ballgames and the beach. The survivors are preparing for a winter, the likes of which, only our grandparents can remember. Don't tell us what to say either, the first amendment remember, the second was just reaffirmed. Be glad there's a gun and ammunition just inside the door.

I don't think this song was really forecasting terrorist attacks. The U.S. government (and a few others) have been hunting terrorists in the Middle East, and while the Church appears not officially to sanction war, many of its supporters are highly dedicated to the new "war on terror." But the song says not to trust everything that the State and Church tell us. I think the enemy has turned out to be the US federal government, and indeed, we are expected to pledge allegiance to the American flag.

But the American flag, which once stood for a nation that believed strongly in true freedom and, most notably, in strength and courage, has gained new meaning now. It now stands for a nation of people who value security over freedom--something Benjamin Franklin warned us merited neither one. Mike couldn't tell us which flag the enemy would offer. Naturally, as is often the case, the answer lay right under our noses--it was our own.

Some of the video is from the 1986 movie Choke Canyon (known as "On Dangerous Ground" in the UK). It's a fairly unremarkable film full of Made-For-TV refugees. It's about a rancher who's trying to stop the government from dumping nuclear waste on his land.
