Removing the gray wire switches the bike from the wr ignition timing to the yz timing. Or in normal language it makes the bike rev better in the higher RPMs.

I just bought a 2007 wr250, and I also bought the GYTR AIS Removal Kit that came with the parts necessary to rejet the CARB. Is it okay if i were to only remove the AIS system and not change anything else? Is it true that I also have to remove the entire CARB to rejet it and re - do the throttle screw?? PLEASE REPLY BACK

You can definately just do the throttle stop that will just let you twist the trottle a little farther. I did the AIS and didn't re-jet with the GYTR stuff, I went with the JD jetting kit later on when I wanted to re-jet because it is a better kit.

You also don't have to remove the carb to re-jet it you can rotate it on the bike. The jets are on the bottom of the carb and the needle is in the top. It can be a pain the first time you do it, I would get on thumpertalk and do some research before you get started. There is a video from a user named coffee that shows the carb pretty well search on you tube for:
re jet fcr-mx
and it should come up
His is off the bike but you can rotate it on the bike as well

Here's an idea>>
you could simply extend the grey wire and connect it to a 2 way switch on your bars, then you would be able to select what ignition curve you needed depending on the terrain. just a thought

That would definately work, but I have found that once I did the mod I never wanted to switch back. My wifes WR didn't have the GW cut and mine did for a long time untill I got around to doing hers, so I got to ride them back to back a lot, and I must say that I don't see a reason to not do the mod.
