you just gotta love youtubers; they (the majority) simply can't take jokes. They forget that youtube is a community with millions of memebers, each with distinctive ways of seing things and different perspectives of what's funny. Come on guys, laugh a little, it pretty darn funny.

Been done before so much more effectively with 'Troops' - the Cops parody done Star Wars style. Hey 'crizzzin', the majority would laugh if this was actually funny, but it isn't. Move along people, nothing funny to see here.
I couldn't be more ... ( 3 weeks ago by LifeAsMachine)
I couldn't be more serious. Blindly accepting ideas because you have accepted the authority of some organization is shear stupidity. There are a lot of religions, and they are all different. They can't all be right. Most likely they are all wrong. Of course, you can learn things from most religions, but you can learn from Sesame Street too. And people don't usually go to war because of Sesame Street. It's no coincidence that the most troubled region of the planet is the most religious.
While blind faith ... ( 3 weeks ago by darknight505)
While blind faith is the ideal, not everyone goes by that. There might be different religions, but most do have something in common. However, on the region issue, I will agree with you. That region has ONE major religion, you can't apply that to all religions. And to compare religion to Sesame Street, even you should know that they are on completely different levels.Besides, we all believe. I believe in Jesus, and you in your unbelief. As for those who marked be down, grow up.
What is your reason ... ( 2 weeks ago by LifeAsMachine)
What is your reason for believing there is a god? Popularity of the idea isn't a very good reason. How old the idea is, is also not a good reason. What is your reason for believing there is a god?
What is my reason ... ( 2 weeks ago by darknight505)
What is my reason for believing there is a God? I was born in a Christian family and was brainwashed into to it. (I hope that's not what you want me to say.) Jokes aside, its not a simple thing to describe. As in the case of my religion, Christianity, it is an experience. I believe in God because he gives me hope, a purpose, and strenght. All of these things God gives to me, otherwise life would be unbearable. Besides, being a Christian doesn't seem to be popular nowadays. Marked down comments?
Any possible ... ( 2 weeks ago by LifeAsMachine)
Any possible benefit of believing some idea is not a reason to think it is true. We cannot get benefit confused with truthfulness. I bet your joke is not far from the truth. You are Christian because it surrounded you, your parents and community. Again, not supporting reasons to think it is true. Indoctrination of children allows errors to last for generations. The idea of a flat earth was really popular at one time too.
And about your ' ... ( 2 weeks ago by LifeAsMachine)
And about your 'experience'.. if you already believe something, your brain uses that belief to interpret your experiences. So, that is not useful in determining truth either. But, if I had more time to discuss, I could make the case that religious belief causes more harm than good. And, the reality of there being no god, and the reality of your existence ending upon your death, are not really that bad. Life is like a shooting star. Short lived, and precious. Make the best of life now.
Let me ask, were ... ( 2 weeks ago by darknight505)
Let me ask, were you ever a former Christian? I am not eloquent enough to debate all ideas and go deep into philosophy. But I hear arguments from both sides, beleivers and non-believers. I have not been indoctrinated, rather, I have experienced it myself. I am not a Christian because it surrounded me. It is mostly non-believers who surround me. Everyone has a 'religion'. Your denial of God and 'religion' is your 'religion'. You just call it unbelief.

You are Christian ... ( 2 weeks ago by LifeAsMachine)
You are Christian rather than Hindu or one of the religions that worship ancestors, because your family and society, by and large, are Christian. Correct? I don't have a religion, but my worldview is philosophical naturalism. I believe all that exists, is simply Nature, and we are just a part of Nature. The evidence for this is everywhere.. it's right in front of our face. I was raised Catholic. But no longer.
My family is ... ( 2 weeks ago by darknight505)
My family is Christian but our society was not. Even though I'm in America things haven't changed all that much. And btw, there are different types of Christians. Some in name only, the ones who are easily persuaded by your arguments, and others like me who don't change our direction just because the wind blows. I've enjoyed this little discussion, heck I've even had friends who think like you. But the thing that bugged me most was you calling religion stupid. Don't dis what you don't get.
Do you really get ... ( 2 weeks ago by LifeAsMachine)
Do you really get the impression that I 'don't get' it? First you accepted the authority of those who told you god existed. Then you accepted the idea that he existed, because you trusted that authority. Then you 'experienced' things, interpreted them according to the belief you already had, and mistakenly thought that was supporting evidence for the truthfulness of that belief. Your mistake was in the beginning, thinking those people were an authority. This process is very common.
Remember, I said ... ( 2 weeks ago by LifeAsMachine)
Remember, I said that religion is stupid. Not you. The reason I say religion is stupid, is because it proclaims to have the truth, and it resists any challenge to the ideas it puts forth. Even if we learn new things, it still stays with the same old shit. Causing great harm. Science, on the other hand, continually tries to correct itself as we learn more. It's a much more healthy philosophy.
I really do think ... ( 2 weeks ago by darknight505)
I really do think you don't get it. It sounds nice when you write it, but it truly is something words cannot express. If what you said is really true, why do people still convert? Now you might say it is for political gain or just because they are down but that is not true. Christianity does have truth, you just can't see it. And true Christianity does not cause harm. And when you say religion is stupid, everyone who believes in religion is automatically stupid for believeing it.
I think the primary ... ( 2 weeks ago by LifeAsMachine)
I think the primary reasons people convert are for psychological comfort for any of a variety of issues. Whether they need reassurance of (supposed) answers, or for the company of others, or guidance or something to focus on when their life is going badly.. I don't agree with the idea that everyone is automatically stupid for believing it. Most of the world believed the world was flat for a very long time. They weren't stupid. Just wrong.
Well you do have a ... ( 2 weeks ago by darknight505)
Well you do have a good point, people do seek faith because it does comfort. Nothing wrong there. As for the company of others, you can join any club to do that. Most people think Christians are uptight so I don't think anyone would join just for the sake of company.
Well, anyway. I ... ( 2 weeks ago by LifeAsMachine)
Well, anyway. I just see no reason to think there is a god. And I think the policy of accepting the authority of some organization which proclaims to have the truth and does not learn or grow is bad form.
