Grand Funk Railroad performing Inside Looking Out live from 1969. This clip was shot at "The Show" WITF-TV in Hershey,Pa. November 1969. Mark & Don were 20 & Mel 18 years old. This clip is timeless. I've had hundreds of messages from people of 4 generations worldwide that just are in awe of this powerful performance (Folks from 11 to 83 years of age). I've been told it's early "metal", to the original "grunge", to the real begining of "punk, to the first "garage band", to "pure tribal rock", to "straight-in-your-face rock", to "industrial-strength power rock". One things for sure, it is powerful, passionate, singular, & unique. Mark, Don, & Mel changed music forever with 10 minute Power Songs like this one. This is a POWER TRIO at its best. Grand Funk Railroad was truly a "Performance Vehicle". What you heard on the albums could be duplicated 100% on their live performances. Many would say it's impossible for a 3 piece band to do this live. See the impossible. Once you start watching it, it's hard not to finish it. This is the most popular GFRxR video on the net. Seeeee.....Mel Mark And Don, rocks! Thats the music makes feel rock in every part of us! 5 stars!
the rock and roll hall of fame is a prime example of why our opinion, YOURS AND MINE,
doesnt count in this country. However, they are in my HALL OF FAME..AND THATS ALL THAT COUNTS.
I alos like the track "nothing is the same"
On this note, let me just say that Mark is one of the most underrated harmonica players in rock. While he may be no "Magic Dick", I rate him right up there with Jack Bruce and Keith Relf. He's certainly better than Robert Plant or Mick Jagger on the harp (they both suck at it, in my opinion!)
2. Your first three albums went Gold in less than 90 days. Another first.
3. First band to have a "Live Album" go multi-platinum (1970).
4. Become the first band to sell ten consecutive Platinum albums. Another first.
5. Have the number one song in America & number one album, already certified Gold before album has been oficially released due to pre-sales orders (American Band). Another first.
7. Be totally ignored by The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as though you never existed. Another first that is being rectified by "The Petition" in this video's description! Everyone please help us by signing!
