ahh I ever had problemes pronouncing "th" and still have some but it got a little better with ur help. I never thought about air flowing out of my mouth while say things with "th", i always pronounced it like a "d". Thanks for your help!

Yes, there is a difference. You're asking about the voiced and voiceless "th". In THANKS you use the voiceless "th". In words like FATHER you use the voiced "th". The position of the tongue is the same, and the blowing of air is the same. Your vocal chords need to vibrate when you make the "th" in FATHER.
Place your hand on your throat, or cover your ears tightly. Then make the two different "th" sounds. Do you hear the difference?
