Mastodon bleeds talent!! I think though that unfortunately they have some bad production on their albums...musically they're immense...vocals need a little help live(Brent's part especially)...they're a band you can appreciate if you can really get what brilliant musicians they are

I don't know if i would call them sludge metal, but they were definitely influenced by it. They all love the melvins and thats one of the reasons why they started playing together

What Mastodon lack in vocal delivery they more than make up for in musical prowess.I don't think these guys were ever about vocals.
