| I think it is hollywood stereotyping. Ultimately they are telling a story that puts the white woman above all things. That simply is not true or the way the world works. However hollywood works that way. Sickening I know. Considering how mixed the world became obviously there are stories of black people with natives. This is where people such as Salli Richardson and Stacey Dash come from. They are both black and indian. So the stories are out there but hollywood does not want to tell it. |

| don't know why people are dissing you for this comment - it's pretty spot on. That's Hollywood for you - tends to cater to the male heterosexual mass audience. Shame a black director deosn't pick it up - would be good to see a black historical film about something other than the slave trade. Pisses me off when thats the only reference black people get in hollywood films. |

| There are probably a lot of scripts floating about covering the above but I doubt very much that there would b interest for this which means getting a production company on board would be hard, getting distributors harder & getting funding almost impossible. black filmmakers can make whatever film they want, but they need the tools for it - either thru investment or privately. I doubt there are many that could do an indie film on their own back, as much as I would love one. |

| No - I'm saying there is less of a demand for a film like this than there is for something with brad pitt getting his kit off, hence less profitability. and no studio will get on board with something where they might lose money. This is why it's important we have indie filmmakers and festivals - it gives a forum for films like this to be shown and picked up, even for people to network and put projects together. |

| This is beautiful. I've just rediscovered Kate Wolf through Nanci Griffith through Iris Dement. I saw Kate perform years and years ago and fell in love with her music. So sad that she died so young. |

| It's actually a tv mini series that was on television a few years ago. It's called "into the west".It did get put onto dvd though, so with a bit of looking you may be able to find it. |
