Do anyone is ... ( 1 year ago by armatian)
Do anyone is thinking what happens when you load that much mass at the front wheels? Polar moment of inertia=High Steering feel=Inert Turning ability=Dead
Yea its called a ... ( 1 year ago by gmcjetpilot)
Yea its called a RX8 and it get lousy milage, very very lousy mileage and needs oil added all the time between oil changes, expensive synthetic oil; basically its an engine for rotary fanatics; I could say shittiest engine ever but won't, but I could. I had the first RX2 and RX3 in the US in the 1970's.

I have a masters in mech engineering and WHAT? What car do you drive now? How many V8 conversions have you done? Do you mean weight and distribution? adds about 250 lbs. total, distribution after conversion with a half tank, 53/47. It drive and feels fine. It's a great mod but it takes talent, skill, shop resources and money to make it work, which I guess you have none. They drive great with V8.
You replace the ... ( 1 year ago by gmcjetpilot)
You replace the whole drive train including the differential and new half shafts. No you don't use the stock tranny and rear end or axles. You definitely should add bigger brakes. Time honored tradition of stuffing big engine in little light car. As for you naysayers, you're just jealous & probably drive CRAP, if you even own a car or are old enough to have a DL.
Not, i did say " ... ( 1 year ago by armatian)
Not, i did say "polar moment" if you'r are so good, should know what it is. I'd rater prefer a cobra, the miata has awful style for a v8
I could derive, ... ( 1 year ago by gmcjetpilot)
I could derive, integrate "J" in three axis in matrix tensor form. Its not a factor. I was referring to your negativism. Agreed, the Cobra, better looking and cool, but a Miata is cheap and a sleeper. A Miata has what 100 HP at the rear wheel, surprise when you lay down two solid rubber lines a 12 sec 1/4. A Cobra is not stealth or a sleeper. To the point, handling is not a question, its not a Ferrari nor a straight line driver either. Its a cool V8 conversion. A go cart for the street.
Right, maybe too ... ( 1 year ago by armatian)
Right, maybe too negative, not objective enough Still i think there are better engines, lighter I like advanced, nimble chassis, but can't stop getting amazed of the sound of a dodge charger growl growl growl, because you don't care about numbers and performance wich so much to enjoy. Still this conversion doesn't engage me
I kind of agree ... ( 1 year ago by gmcjetpilot)
I kind of agree with you, but I drove an old girlfriends stock Miata. The darn thing was fun, I loved driving it. I looked at buying a Porsche boxer and drove one. The Miata was more fun at way less money. It's after all a chick car, but that can be good, because girls come up and go "how cute". ha ha
225hp from 5-litre ... ( 1 year ago by useer)
225hp from 5-litre V8 engine - a living proof that americans just aint good in engineering. 45hp from a litre - that could go in Least Power Efficency competition. :)
yeah, that's ... ( 1 year ago by SkeksisRule)
yeah, that's terribly inefficient. But in a small car like this it would still be a blast. Of course a turbo charged 4 cylinder could do just as well. But it wouldn't have the torque of a v8
Adding a V8 ... ( 11 months ago by RyoKun91)
Adding a V8 basically defeats the Miata's purpose and idea. Just use the goddamn 4-banger, It's good enough without adding a heavy-ass engine.
I agree ( 11 months ago by Soffex)
I agree

225hp from a 5.0 ... ( 10 months ago by brobinson75)
225hp from a 5.0 sounds so weak nowadays, considering most V6s make at least that.
it helps it, its a ... ( 9 months ago by roewedge)
it helps it, its a fallacy to say that it completely destroys the miata. The V8 sets much faster times on track.
No kidding the 04- ... ( 9 months ago by lavs23)
No kidding the 04-05 Mazdaspeed Miatas with new intake and exhaust is pushing 200hp to the wheels, close to equivalent power with less weight.
Brit no doubt. Two ... ( 9 months ago by BAClanton)
Brit no doubt. Two quick points for you...HP per litre..big issue to you, not so big to us as alot of us are more concerned w/ TORQUE rather than HP. 3.5L V8 w/ 300+ HP that only produces 250ft/lbs of torque does not interest me. Second the whole "US cars are rubbish and can't go around corners" Did it ever occur to you that we're NOT as concerned about goin around corners considering we live on a large continent w/ straight roads? :)
he made a very good ... ( 9 months ago by HelloLuisWeen)
he made a very good point there, american cars are inefficient, period, that is a FACT so there is no use on arguing about it... Im not saying they are slow or crap, im saying inefficient, period.
you guy are so dumb ... ( 9 months ago by stsurfer420)
you guy are so dumb and the new miata is not pushing 200 hp to the whell with a new intake dummy
Array ( 8 months ago by aeicis)
YES !!!
That is also what im gonna do if i do buy a mazda miata. 1. Buy Mazda Miata MX-5 Hardtop convertable 2. Buy A V8 or higher engine. and there you have it a dream car.

´m not a big fan of muscle cars, but americans know how to build engines. less than 50 hp/litre aint that much, but i´m sure they could gain some more hp if they wanted. i guess no one of you is into engineering, so why argue about things you just dont know? take a look at the veyron engine: 16 l
itre 4 turbos and nearly the same power/litre ratio like this thing without turbos. think about it!
