US & UK did not hunt down the insurgents after 1st gulf war; they just did not help them. Having said that, I have to say that most unfortunate and sad US foreign policy mistake after East Timor & Rwanda was abandoning Kurds and Shias after 1st gulf war.
You should spare some time to read about one of the most defining conflict of our time i.e. Afghan conflict, which has its roots in first Afghan-British was in 1850s. His points are right one and you are nit picking the details. The US ABSOLUTELY provided the chemical weapons that Iraq used against Iranians and Kurds. The actual chemical formulas were from the US gov't. They may have had others, but they used the US' secret sauce.
