i think that nobody of you understand the neapolitan dialect...i understand cz i am from salerno very close to naples and i also study in naples...anyway all this for say that sure he sing the neapolitan dialect better than carreras pavarotti and others million of tenor or baritone.anyway the better in the neap song is bonisolli(without think at the real neapolitan singer)

I don't think is a matter of voice range passion and drama is matter of feeling...is not beautiful what is beautiful. Is beautiful what you like. That's what my Neapolitan father always told me. To stop foreigners from singing Neapolitan is to kill Neapolitan music.

Dmitrii Khvorostovsky is unical baritone voice. Very great range of diapazon from bass's notes to tenor's. Real bassbaritone of Verdi quallity and tenorestyle high notes. Of cource He is the greatest Bariton in his generation.

Really impressive how good his Neapolitan is! That is so funny: a Russian baritone singing way better than Pavarotti, who pretty much always insisted on Neapolitan songs in his concerts :-D And a great voice, of course... bravo Dmitri! Accussi' se cant'!

They don't even know the language,and lots of listeners don't have the sense to distinguish what is gold and what is lead.Only Drammatic tenor voices can sing a great Neapolitan song.period.Sorry don't take it personal.

Splendid rendition from this great Russian baritone, why criticise his Neapolitan?? Don't most Italian singers sing in dreadful English then?? But we still enjoy them. Grow up !!

As an Italian, I think that Hvorostovsky is great in these popular songs for tenors, and I think not only dramatic tenors can sing this (see Carreras).

Dmitri does a fantastic job, he's hot and a bit of a ham but pretty good. It is perhaps the best that a Siberian singer can do for a Neapolitan song. In any case he does a better job of it than Pavarotti ever did. I would agree that a Neapolitan singer can have excellent diction but it doesn't necessarily mean that they can feel this song as the singer feels for Catari. I think Cardillo would have liked Caruso, and any singer who can sing this song with passion.....

What is this? A masterclass in the Neapolitan dialect? Who cares? Dmitri is the greatest baritone since...who? Warren? Ruffo? since a long time, anyway. And if he wants to let loose in a passionate Neapolitan ballad, we are the beneficiaries.

Ironically, Cardillo wasn't very satisfied of this song. However, Caruso insisted performing Core 'Ngrato and made it popular World wide. As we know, Caruso had such a rich timbre that when he sang lower notes they assumed baritonal tone. I personally is one of the Neapolitan songs that best suite baritonal voice, together with Dicintello vuie.

Dmitri does a great job interpreting both popular Neapolitan and Russian repertoire... There isn't such a great leap from the melancholy of Tiomnaia Noch to Dicintello vuie. I also remeber Estonian baritone Georg Ots making beautiful versions of both Russian and Neapolitan songs.
