What year was this.??? OMG.. and is that Kerry Livgren?? Has anyone heard his LP.. Seeds of Change.. I saw Steve Walsh do the handstand..on the keyboards back in the late 70's-early80's.. awesome.. where are they NOW???? Thanks for the video..

This was the early 90's line-up with 'special guest' Kerry Livgren. The fiddler had to pull double duty on guitar (which worked rather well) when I saw this tour in Charlotte. They were promoting this Video/Album at the time. They played Charlotte NC quite often throughout the 90's and into the next century.

Kansas is still doing a full tour, I saw them last fall. This video was when Steve Walsh was going through some rough times. They are still the best of classic rock and Walshs' voice is as strong as ever

first off thanks to the guy who posted this video - secondly i saw kansas during their point of no return tour that was the last time i saw them unfortunately, however they were truly at their best during the 70's after that i never really followed them as a matter of fact point of no return was their last good album i didn't like anything they did after that... steve walsh looks like he is definietly on cocaine here it isn't hard to see that he was going through a really tough time...

In the liner notes for this c.d. it says "This performance was recorded in one take,"Live at the Whisky,"(I know it's misspelled on the c.d.!)Los Angeles, California,April 5,1992. As for Livgrens "Seeds of Change" c.d. I have it and it is awesome! I love "Mask of the Great Deceiver"!

well steve may have lost some of his range, but the pipes do get a little worn down after 35+ years of touring... but the band sounded great...I saw them 91, and it was a great show...great ending to this song...phil's awesome....

yeah, that's kerry on guitar...he played keys in the old days...he rejoined the band for a short time in the early 90's...don't think he's with them now...he started the band with phil in 1970

He is still an "unofficial" member of the band. He writes songs for the band and makes many guest appearances! It seems that every couple of years they get together for another project but I fear that Hope and Steinhardt are past doing that! One can only Hope!(Get it!)

One take was not true, Steve's vocals were pretty messed up that night so he had to go back into the studio and re-sing about 75% of the vocals to the video. The band however was done in one take so....

Yeah... unfortunately this was the peak of his addiction. I saw them in Grand Rapids during this tour, and Steve was completely out of it. I was pretty embarrassed for the band as a whole; at this point, they were pretty much "nostalgia circuit" grade/ I talked to Ragsdale after the show and asked where Steve was, and he said that he must be out scoring some coke! They are now redeemed, however, and stronger than ever. Kinda cool seeing Kerry jam with the band in this vid!

I think the two fellas on guitar - Livgren and the big guy as original lineup, and the sneeze freak Walsh. Bassist and strings look like leftovers from Poison or Skid Row...

Singing lead vocals, shirtless, is Steve Walsh. The guitar player in the red shirt is Kerry Livgren, the guitar player in the eye patch dressed in black is Rich Williams. David Ragsdale is on the violin. Phil Ehart is on drums. Billy Greer is on bass. Greg Robert finishes it out on the keyboards. Original members present are: Livgren Walsh Ehart Williams Greer, Ragsdale and Greg Robert were all brought in during the 80s or early 90s.

if u even try to compare these vocals with the live recording.."Two for the Show" from 1978 all would see what is being discussed here...Steve Walsh was one of the best rock vocalists of the 70's and this just makes me sad!!! :(

THIS was a great K show.
IF Steve would have kicked that dude in the front row
that was OFF-BEAT the whole night, MTV would play it.
More camera cuts, less panning, more close-close-ups
would have made it better. IMO
MORE female audience going crazy GAGA too. BEATLES like.
