| I admire the music of ELO and love the music of the Beatles. But still I must say that something is disturbing me with ELOs music. It's like Jeff Lynne found a cooking recipe for writing a standard popsong. So many songs of ELO resemble each other. If you compare the songstructures you see the same scheme. In the early 70s ELO was very promising, it was said they were the new Beatles. But then they (Jeff) only wrote "sell-music". |

| Yes, this album was cool (if not a bit to poppy), Jeff Lynne is such a consumate musician. A bit of an ego freak as far as writing and producing all of the songs on all of ELO's albums. I'll bet some of the other band members had good material, but were never able to put it on any of the albums. |

| Really? Have you checked it? I was writing down the scheme for different ELO songs. They resemble. Ok, it's normal: You have intro (4 bars) then verse (16 bars), pre-chorus (5 bars) , chorus (8 bars), intro repeat (2 bars), verse (8 bars), pre-chorus (5 bars), chorus, and so on...And now take some ELO hits and compare them to that cooking scheme. Most of them resemble. First you have the dramatic intro, then...Please don't misunderstand me. I really, really like ELOs music. |

| You are totally right! But we have ELO. In the early 70s ELO was a group who was seen to be the new Beatles. Ok, maybe it was a little marketing. They continue where the Beatles with "I am the walrus" stopped. Listen to ELO-10538 Overture their debut masterpiece. It was so innovative, breaking general music rules. Great! But after a few years it became less and less innovative and ELO came into that hit cooking recipe. I mean for a group like ELO it was sad, that they only wrote standard music. |
