Part 1 of 3
This episode investigates the Native American Legend of Bigfoot or "Sasquatch" as the Native Americans call it. A large, hairy beast, resembling a man. Scientists and Cryptozoologist discuss the possibility that this creature may inhabit the thousands of square miles of uninhabited timberland in the American Northwest. The legend of Bigfoot dates back may centuries and sightings have been reported continuously since before the white man came to this region of America and they continue today. Archival footage of a suspected Bigfoot is shown and discussed with both witnesses and scientists evaluating the film.

I have this one on video, A&E remastered these shows and aired them, then it vanished, I only recorded a few of them... The Patterson film you speak of was real, when Patterson died of cancer on his death-bed he said it was not a hoax!!

I just ADORE this show - A&E used to air it @ 4PM mon-fri. I used to watch it after shool at about aged 13 or 14 before mom & dad came home, & the show ALWAYS gave me the creeps. I was home alone and the show's music, aura, and dated film really got to me! I love it!

This show used to scare the crap out of me as a boy. It still disturbs me, it's all dark and grainy...Leonard Nimory and that music...yikes!!!

That film is still studied over and over. Even with computer video analysis they still call it as they see it, more so than often it has been deemed authentic video proof of bigfoot. And when you think of that hoax being totted around recently on the news. Of course it is a fake, the body doesn't match anything seen in the Patterson film. And in my opinion, bigfoot would likely be found in the pacific northwest, not georgia. Like what was he doing? Moonshining in those backwoods? Lol.

We have something similar to bigfoot in Florida. In fact I smelled it once - totally disgusting! It's a sulphur smell with some other nasty aroma combined. I didn't know bigfoot had been seen by old timers in the swamps of Brevard county when I smelled this. I was messing around in a wild area before it was developed. Years later when I moved from Palm Bay to Melbourne I found out from a local lady about the skunk apes. My jaw freaking dropped.

The Patterson Film is the best "evidence" that bigfoot enthusiasts can hold on to. People WANT bigfoot to be real and I am one of them. To me the film seems very phony. I see a seam in the costumes leg. I think the desire to want Bigfoot to be real overpowers the objectivity of it. We need real convincing evidence, otherwise this is just a myth and folklore.

I also heard that Rod Serling was tapped to be the original "In Search Of" host before he died of heart disease.

Thank you for posting! I loved this show when it aired in the 70s. Could you please post more? I wrote to Universal Studios asking if "In Search Of..." is going to be released on DVD, but Universal said there are no plans right now for that. Too bad!
