Not at all. I'm a total fan of Japan, Japanese culture, Japanese people... And since I love the film, I've seen it many times and haven't ever gotten that feeling either. I think people who get upset about some funny parts in the movie or about the melancholic way it displays the difficulties of learning to live in such a 'different world' simply are hypocrites...

No, didn't get that feeling at all - and I'm a PC lefty, who knows it when I see it. Maniok's quite right, the film was all about the isolation of being in a different headspace. Setting it in Japan just made that point viusally - and there were plenty of westerners in the film who the main characters couldn't relate to as well.

This song blew me away, then I bought the soundtrack and it is brilliant. I fall asleep with it on the subway, then work out in the gym with it. Her look at the end of the video is priceless.

Everything to do with this film is utter perfection.
The direction, the atmosphere, the tone and most of all the soundtrack just takes it to another level.

i don't think it was done in either a mean-spirited or racist way at all. the point of the movie is about people being unable to communicate or understand one another. bill murray couldn't communicate with his wife nor anyone in tokyo, and scarlett had difficulties communicating with her husband, yet when they found each other they immediately became kindred spirits. it is a really good movie worth watching and the soundtrack KILLS

there was that review from a newspaper and it said the thi film was "anti-japanese racism". That critique is an obvious dick as he or she just don't get what this filmis about. This is forever my favourite film of all time purely because of it's artistry.

I went to see this movie twice. One of the great soundtracks. The visuals and the sounds of this movie really set a mood. Something of her father definitely rubbed off.

I used to listen to this album quite a lot while I was living briefly in Osaka; I'd play it on the subway or just walking around getting lost. I even watched Lost in Translation again while I was there: I found it highly relevant to what was going on around me at the time. lol *sigh* I miss the place.
