The city of Pripyat in northern Ukraine was once home to approximately 50,000 people, many of whom were workers at the ill fated Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Pripyat was abandoned in 1986 following the accident. Today it is a ghost town, a macabre legacy to the catastrophe that was, is Chernobyl.

I haven't played these games either, but have watched some demos and also clips from these games here on Youtube. Upon that and having visited this place, I would say that COD4 is more realistic than Stalker.

Better do it soon, because the buildings are in really bad shape after nearly 22 years(some have already collapsed), so I think that maybe these trips will not be allowed once it will became too dangerous. And the trees grow bigger year by year, so these is not much to see soon (the streets are already 2x narrower than they used to be).

I have COD4 on PS3, and It made me intrested in this place, so i looke it up on google earth,( the reactor is blanked out i think) but Id say being a newer and better looking, id agree with you. Id liek to visit this place too, I carnt go yet but soon i will. How was it getting in the exclusion zone?

If you want to go there, contact the guys from pripyat com project. They arrange 1 day tours (one every month) and they do really good job. Some of them lived in Pripyat before the accident, so they know a lot about it and have strong feelings about that town.

ok, thankyou, ive noted that down. ive been quite intrested in the place. I carnt travel here just yet as im in college and im only 16, but im gonna do it soon. I heard its quite safe to visit, but people are advising me against it, but i think im gonna try it. Thankyou again :)

lol i heared it lived two crazy people in chernobyl in 1986 when the nuclear plant blowed they don't wanted to move so the police yust lived them there but they warned them and three days later they died of radioactive

What kinda source did you take the informations from? As i know, the background radiation isn't bigger than in Berlin, Budapest or Prague. : )
