Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorius, Flea, Geddy Lee, John Entwistle, those are the best bassists ever. This guy just converted a 6 string guitar solo to a bass guitar. All of the bassists i formerly named made bass what it is today, by inventing and/or remodeling different sounds and techniques. This guy is good, but it's just more of the same, if you like it, it's cool, but to say he is the best is far from the truth.

The Reason he isn't 'THE' best bassist ever is partly because he died very young,but he is defenetlly one of the best (In my eyes the best),but no one could argue that he is by far the most influential bass player ever.Nobody of all people that you mentioned wasn't as near influential as Cliff is.

I think that same arguement could be made against all of those bassists..as good as they are. This is just my opinion...but what bass playing is is up to the bass player in question...I don't think any one bassist or great many should have the authority to decide what bassists "should" sound like...that's just me.."Best" is always, in my opinion, a matter of taste depending on the person listening.

i thing flea and cliff are just about equal because you cant compare apples to oranges, there both amazing but they play very different types of music and they are the best in there field of music
