| THE definitive example of 60's psychedelia. And a strange one from The Chamber Bros--"People Get Ready" was more their style. Note to ThalaeiaMuse, the first time I heard this I too was at Morro Bay (relatives lived in SLO). Had intended to climb the Rock but guess what? decided to get stoned instead. Original album vers was over 16 minutes, lots of maniacal laughter and sound fx in the middle. Verrry trippy. |

| I believe that this version was played on the progressive stations which at the time were mostly on FM. Being that FM was nowhere near as mainstream or commercially viable as it is today (remember, we're talking 1968 here), such stations were willing to take a risk on such a song (particularly this version). FTR, there was a single version which ran just under five minutes which reached #11 on the Billboard pop chart the fall of that year. |
