Son House - Death Letter Blues (1960's Color Film)

Uploaded by: terser
Video Description:
I haven't seen this footage here on youtube yet, so I thought I should upload it. Son house does a particularly good (though short) rendition of his Death Letter blues. He also has a nice Colonel Sanders tie. Includes an awesome close up on his hand and the (brass?) slide he is using.

Yeah, he spent time at Parchman Farm, singing and working on a chain gang. If the blues had a body, it would be Son House.

I would do anything to see Son play as a young man, with Charley Patton in tow. That would be musical heaven.

"Yeah", Your right On HOWLINWILF13.
Those guys definately are among my favourites
and of course they stand in the company of Blues Titans. I love Jimmy Rogers but I dont
think he would be considered a delta bluesman.
He's more 'Country/folk' and some consider him
to be 'the father of 20th century 'Country music'. Well at least that's the opinion of some I have read - rightly or wrongly. The reason I wrote 'the holy trinity of Blues' is
because 'Rolling Stone' mag labelled them as that."
