usually one must say of a 60 year-old singer that she used to be great... that's not the case for Ms Ludwig: her breaths are perhaps a little shorter than those of her recording of the complete opera but she still has a voice to shame 98% of existing mezzos in their youth. beautiful, rich, pure... her high notes still solid and brilliant... a great singer with great charm and personality

This is not the right tessitura for Dalila. She has a wonderful voice, but this role does not suit her style, nor Saint-Saens' musical line. In fact, she chokes and struggles to keep a smooth sound. She sounds here like she is singing Wagner.

Great rendition! This aria is one of my favorites and this is the first time I've sampled Mme.Ludwig's vocal styling and considering her age, her voice didn't wobble... By far I like Callas', Norman's versions and now also Ludwig's. Callas' fluid legato is simply beautiful in the measure from 4:52 to 5:08 seconds- such good breath control; only her has this approach in the said measure.
