He died. His star faded away. The indian said something about when somebody has accomplished what they were supposed to, and passes on to the afterlife, their star fades away. Or Something like that, it's been a while since I seen the cowboy bebop series.

aw, this doesn't show the credits ending. :( some people say spike also died of a broken heart, having lost everything. either way this anime was a masterpiece and like PaxInvictis, it's magic lies in leaving the door open for another interpretation.

Well, the director himself said that it was not definate whether Spike is dead or alive at the end, so I guess he's leaving that decision up to the audience.

Just bought the DVD..took me about a week to watch the whole series...the ending leaved me with lotsof questions..like..what happend to Ein and Ed??and of course,the popular question,did Spike died??

I think Ed and ein went to be with her father. And spike, IMO he died. Some ppl want that happy ending, that spike lived and he was just knocked out. But I really think he died.

Pretty sure Spike Died, Bones anime series are usually much more dramatic and usually, in the end, it comes down to a sacrifice and a very fulfilling, but ultimately sad ending, take Wolf's Rain for example.

I say Spike dies. The whole dramatic impact of the overall story arc is compromised if Spike were to make it out alive. Throughout the entire series it hinted at that Spike's past is something that he ultimately won't be able to outrun and it will eventually consume him. The Director has also stated that he doesn't want to comment on Spike's fate as to upset fanboyz who would go crazy. Which when you read inbetween the lines means that in the directors eyes Spike dies as well. He won't admit it

I followed the whole series to this final episode and well, I was so emotionally wrapped up in this that I couldn't help feeling as though I was apart of it, the story line is deep, provocative and insightful, and philosophy plays a big part in this which is a major plus!
I would prefer not being nasty to spike but that spike died at this ending because it completes the entire epic and journey. plus the indian said his star was going to fall from the sky so yeah guess it is the end. bravo!

I'd have no problem with Spike living because I believe he was just confronting his inner demons, his past, he wasn't necessarily looking to die. However, the fortune teller tells Jet that his friend will die and I doubt the creators would want us to think that the fortune teller just made a mistake.

when i frist seen comboy bebop on adult swim i dident even no what anime was, all i new is the stroy line came close to my life. and when i seen spike i was serprised how close to me that creator personally was. and thats why i liked the series. p:s see ya space cowboy
