Anime style and cartoon styles are also arm forms. It really annoys me when people say it's not.
And, I also do realism, I take classes for realism, and still I-- and most of my friends in the class, and even the teacher-- consider it to be real art. Just different.
And anyway, saying anime and cartoons aren't art... isn't that like saying abstract isn't art? :S

You're right it wasn't the first magical girl show. It was just one of the first ones that really hit it off. It also established some common themes, which is why lots of people think it's the first.

Hmm i guess my post didn't go though. anyways Abstract art is the artist's interpretation of an emotion or event. Its a look into the artist mind without any common reference for interpretation. Anime and cartoons are a simplification of shapes and shades so children can more easily understand and relate to the story. Please tell me how that is anything like abstract art.

Well, I meant that it was because they're not "realism" which some people seem to think is the only form of art. (And, uh, some abstract artists don't do that as their "interpretation of an emotion or even", some of them do abstract just because they like the way it looks.) And, anime and cartoons aren't always "simplifying" it, it could just be that the artist happens to like the way it looks.

Hmm that last comment made me realize you really have no idea what true art is. :( Maybe in a few years you will as for now its not my job to teach you. ill just say that people that do abstract art just because it looks cool are doing it for the fad or social image they are not doing it for the true abstract.

I have no idea what true art is? Hmm. Well, I also have to say, a lot of other artists have "simplified" styles, so it's not art if the characters have big eyes? I'm not going to act like I know everything and say that I know what "true art" is (Maybe in a few years? That's basically "Maybe when you're older" which I get REALLY tired of hearing), but at least I'm open-minded.
But, I've got better things to do than argue with someone, especiall if they can't spell "I'm". This isn't solving.

I really wouldn't bash my spelling because all your comments have had them in spades and I didn't bring them up because they where not relevant to the argument. The reason you are hearing "maybe when your older" is because your still young and learning. Im only 21 so I remember when i though i knew everything. Trust me some day soon you will realize that those people where right that you where still thinking things trough and developing your ideas.
