Because the GM ... ( 5 months ago by Rickdeckard2020)
Because the GM scoundrels sold the patent of a great battery system to Texaco/Chevron who then used it to sue Toyota to prevent them from making the RAV4-EV. GM crushed their cars so the public would not see the EV1 zooming around without gas and realize they were getting screwed, but Toyota did not shred its Rav4-EVs, but because of litigation (made possible by the double-faced untrustworthy unscroupulous GM) they had to stop selling them.

So it's Chevron who's are the low life! Did you know they have shares in A123? That quirky California law got watered down and they all stopped selling EVs, Toyota didn't sell the EV anywhere else in the world, not even Japan, although it could have. This time around it's public demand not some quirky law that's asking for EVs. Last time they were probably right to pull the plug, GM were the only one who invested to made a specialized EV, the rest made poor conversions.

To Tspool100 Here's a thought if the cars existed we wouldn't be at 4.00 a gal. I mean we are paying not only at the pump, how about food prices. You idiot. And I know this is a real strech, would we invest so much energy in the middle east if we had a alternative evergy to gas. And If the movie is true! I will never buy another chevy for as long I live!!!!!!!

hey why does it haft to be a rav 4? and why must we go to the paint shop and have a big queer EV sign put on it? know what i would do? i would go to the hummer dealership and convert an h3 to an EV and go to mechanics all day and ask them if they can service my car because it doesnt make the right noises. then they would be surprised when they look under the hood and see an electric motor. man that would be funny!
people need to ... ( 4 months ago by ConnecticutFA)
people need to catch on with cars your are just financing your energy through overpriced oil. EVs you pay up the ass for batteries but with modern batteries after 5 years the cost is the same if you use grid power. Modern Lifepo4 cells can get 2000 charges, thats 200,000 miles for a cost of around 12 grand for 100 mile range. if you buy your electricity instead of make it on your own. that adds up to around 14,000 energy. Gas at 4 bucks a gallon and 20 mpg=40k at 30mpg=27grand over 200k miles

oil is dead. we have to find alternative energy. will do. we have already in fact. is just that oil companies pay so well that automakers don't wanna change anything.

Dude-great idea but I believe that your math is off by a factor of 5. The toyata Rav4 EV had a 27 kwh storage system and your system would give you 5 kwh. That means your cost is not 6600 but 31,000 dollars. Nice try. Lead acid is the only way buddy.

I already own 1997 petrol fueled RAV4 with 211,000 miles its already paid for since 2001 and it still runs great w/ everything original except the tires. maybe i'd consider the Electric upgrade when the engines dies w/c is very unlikely I have a feeling the engine will go for another 200,000+ miles. by then gas will probably be at $12 a gallon

why bother to convert an old car...just get a new prius ang upgrade is to plug type....more expensive but its new
The average life ... ( 2 months ago by theden0minat0r)
The average life span of an electric car far outweighs your average internal combustion car. I want make my Rav4 EV, give it to my kids, then watch as they give the car to their kids so they drive it for the cost of electricity. That is why I'll pay for a car that I can get 20+ years of use out of. Go pay for your gas, and tell the Arabs that you are perfectly happy to give them your money. The average male citizen in Saudi Arabia makes around 180,000 dollars a year. How much are you making?
why would you get a ... ( 2 months ago by rtsoccerplayer)
why would you get a prius which still uses gas when you can convert an old car into a fully electric car for less of the price of a prius and uses not a single drop of fuel?

What is the purpose ... ( 2 months ago by aarontell)
What is the purpose of this video? You could pay any conversion shop to convert just about any vehicle if you had an extra $42,000 lying around. The Rav4 isn't exactly an ideal platform for an EV. There would be no purpose in paying the full price of a brand new vehicle with warranty just to rip the motor, fuel tank, and exhaust system out of it.
