her voice is powerful since she sings literally kissing the mic. but when she moves the mic away her voice literally fades. let me see her sing like mariah's performance of If It's Over. you see what true power is with the mic away not IN the mouth.

I totally agree! Anyone who thinks Whit is original is ignorant as 1 can hear influences from Aretha (power) and Minnie Riperton (vocal acrobatics). 2nd, Whit has squeaked whistle notes in a live performance in 96 - 6 years after Mariah made her debut!

honestly, not that much no.. aint heard the same amount of minnie's songs as whitney's but i just cant hear the similarity. minnie's range is way out there past whitney's so how could i recongnise a genuine similarity- come on man... u'd have 2give song examples of where the two sound similar

I'll give you two, Minnie's "Love Hurts" for starters and 2nd, compare Minnie's "Adventures In Paradise" with Whitney's "So Emotional" with Mariah's "Emotions". There are others but I'll let you listen to these 2 first!

Please Whitney was doing whistle before MC came to the seen. 87, and 91 she was hitting notes in whistle. I would say she is influenced by Denice Williams, Cissy her Momma and Minnie though with the high head notes, and superhead notes.
