i have to say, #2 shining #1 the thing thats because the thing FUCKING terrified me, and it is flat out horror. shining was also excellent, but it had more of the thriller qualities, and really was more creepy and bone chilling, not scary. the thing was great because it could apply anywhere and it would explode in your face when it happend. with the shining, its more limited and its gradual. The thing is definetly my favorite horror movie of all time and close to #1 of any movie i've ever seen.

1. A nightmare on Elm street 2. Forsaken 3. Puppet master 4. Hellraiser 5. The Ghoul These are the films i still get a chill watching, some for the actual content and some for the things that still stay with me. There's a part in forsaken were one of the guys bitten by the vampire eats rare steak with blood seeping out to keep his cravings down, I can't see anyone eat a rare steak without thinking of that film.

Love your nod to Identity but it has no sci-fi elements in it. Its happening in the guys mind in a psychological way. Its pure slasher/psyc/thriller.
