I disagree this this is Carole's "signature song"... I have several others in mind with which she is more famously associated: It's Too Late? Natural Woman? I Feel the Earth Move? One Fine Day? Will you Still Love me Tomorrow? Jazzman? And, with the success of Gilmore Girls, Where You Lead.

She composed so many Great songs & proud to call her my Friend/Musical Colleague. Honoured to be with her,as well. She is one of the Best Singer/Songwriters/Pianists of my generation. It is Her'Signature Song'!- Penny

"Where You Lead",also from her Tapestry album
was a Hit of hers in the early 70's, as the others,except The Shirelles sang her "One Fine Day" in the 60's. However,"She is'noted'
for"You've Got A Friend"as her signature song,
given to her friend James. It is associated with both,because each of the two versions are so fine!!

REPLY To:SJDinAudubon: Sorry, to clarify-I thought agreed that"You've Got A Friend"is Carole's'Sig.Song'. It Is! She gave it 1st to her friend James,then made it famous again with her piano rendition from 'Tapestry',1971.
But her"It's Too Late" was a fantastic classic
@ the same time. Where ever my dear friend goes,she is asked to sing:"You've Got a Friend"...because she owns it. Musical Regards,truly. - Penny

In these various dialogues in the thread below, we perhaps are losing the track of of the importance of this musical contribution and the event. Taylor and King seem at easy, and in fact, ingivorated by each other. Are we here to judge their collective happiness and appraisal of each other? I think not. Let others (BMI, ASCAP, agents and attorneys) sort out the details. Perhaps, we should just enjoy, and feel good about this contribution.
