This is the 1963 Capitol Records stereo version. --ABOUT THE SONG-- (From Wikipedia) You Belong To Me is credited to three writers: Pee Wee King, Redd Stewart, and Chilton Price. Actually Price wrote most of the song, and gave rights to the other two in exchange for publicity. Pee Wee King and Re
dd Stewart did rearrange the song because it was written as a war song during World War II and changed the title to "You Belong To Me" along with arranging the music. Price gave them equal credit because of the success of an earlier hit which she had written, "Slow Poke (posted here on bmcneese45a),

I like this version, but it is not the original one. I prefer the 1952 because it has a more exotic sound and feel to it. I was born 10 years after and I remember hearing that song as I grew up. My parents were young adults during WWII and got married in 1948. I found out today that that she passed away on July 16 of this year. I am so sad now.. The world has such a great lady.

For some reason the press was VERY slow picking up on the news of Jo's passing on July 16. Quite hard to understand.

I've had a lifelong love affair with this genre of music ever since one fateful day 14 years ago. I was a ten-year-old kid fiddling around with the living room stereo, trying to find something decent to listen to (I wasn't too big on what was popular at the time). In a moment that permanently changed the entire course of my life, I stumbled onto my local Golden Oldies station (sadly, now defunct) and heard Jo Stafford's voice affirming every unspoken wish I'd ever had for what music could be.

She's the best...just the best..what a voice..her Doris Day and Rosemary Clooney..were my favorites. I love this kind of music...my mom used to play it all the time on the radio...when i was a baby...that's why I love it so much..reminds me of mama. Thanks
