A 1/2-scale flying model of a Star Wars X-Wing was flown at Plaster Blaster 6 on October 6, 2007. 23-feet tall, 19-foot wing span, and weighing in at over 600 pounds flight-wight. Amazing!

What kind of moronic launch was this, anyway?!? Those four people were within spitting distance of that heap-o-destruction, and the safety code calls for them to have been 500 feet away. And who was the RSO who approved this launch? What a stupid way to potentially add the first fatality to the hobby in over 50 years.

GUYS!!!!!! The rocket was BLOWN APPART. I spoke to the president of Plaster Blaster, who supervised the rocket build. The rocket should not have come appart, not even if it hit the ground hard. The reason it came appart into hundreds of pieces was because it was curving towards the crowd. Had it wenty straight up, it would have been successful.
Model rocketry is very safe. This stuff does not happen every time a big rocket is launched. ~98% of the rocket launches are successful!
