What do you think would happen if a child, retarded person, and you were stranded in the jungle. If you only fought to live for yourself, of course you would be at the top of the food chain. o.o After making the previous comment I went for a bike ride and while I was on it I couldn't help but think about that comment a bit and as a result I now apologize for my condescending tone. At the time I was wrapped up in wanting to get at what he said because he was defending animal rights which I sometimes associate with opposition to experiments on animals when the results of experiments on animals from decades ago saved my life a few years ago. I might continue though I'm hesitant to now.

great thinker & philosopher. i think that few can understand him, or even be open to listen to what he is saying. it seems to me that most of you here are not interested in realising the ethics of your actions & everyday choices but mostly to excuse yourselves for not being vegan. someone who is lazy to think, cant make self critics.. so then you should also leave all the rest alone.and if you think you are smarter, then suggest what is ethically right & then justify it to the extend he did. :)

Being part of the human progressive movement only takes kindness and the time to stop and help a fellow living creature that is hurt or in danger. It also takes teaching children about compassion and kindness. Cruel acts are wired into a young brain and become a "normal" part of behavior without intervention. Cruelly to animals translates to humans and ultimately to themselves. A better world is compassionate, tolerant and educated

Human beings have a moral responsibility to care for the creatures that share the earth with us, by ensuring they are not tortured, maimed or senselessly killed by the cruel or mentally deranged. I could do without the politics, but most folks that support animal rights have compassion and foresight that allow them to see that survival of all species, including our own, depends on those more advanced, protecting those without the power to protect themselves.

Governments need to be kept out of the decisions of what prisoners eat, provided they don't eat meat. Prisoners do deserve the right for non-animal sources of protein. I have the right as an animal rights soldier to fight to get government to do whatever *I* want it to do, same as everyone else with all their trivial other causes does for THEIR stupid causes. Nobody in Egpyt was EVER killed for killing a cat. That's bullshit. There was never any such law.

Media is extraordinarily biased against the rights of non-humans. If television aired one PETA video for every pro-meat commercial advocating the holocaust against animals, we would have the breeding of animals for food outlawed within a week. Government is hugely biased against animals, needlessly poisoning and torturing them in labs. I admire military thinking, with its analyses of collateral damage and strategies. That's what we need in the War for Non-human Rights.

As much as I admire him for championing of animal rights, I fail to understand his fame. His ideas don't seem particularly unique, insightful or sophisticated. Animals have lives and interests of their own so we should respect them? Isn't that what vegetarians have been saying since time immemorial?
