The Greater Richmond Pipes & Drums (GRPD) was founded in 1996 in Richmond, Virginia. GRPD has quickly grown to become the largest bagpipe band in Central Virginia. We now comprise over 40 bagpipers and drummers from throughout the Greater Richmond area. At full complement, the band can field 16 performance-level pipers and 12-15 performance-level drummers. GRPD plays up to 20 performances each year, including parades, ceremonial occasions and competitions across the Mid-Atlantic region.
