Zoos should be illegal. They are descended from ancient Rome - in the 21st century you would think they would have been outdated. Besides the world is shrinking. People can see them in their natural habitat roam free, eating rabbits, on bus tours. Me? I'll watch them on the internet thank you very much. (total weenie :)

i work at a zoo. i can agree with you that some zoos need to have bigger areas for their animals to roam but you need to understand that some of these animals. Like these beautiful white lions are endangered species cause humans hunted them while they were in their natural habitats. Most Zoos are involved in breeding to try and up the number of endangered animals so they can eventually re-introduce them. This is why we have zoos and conservation areas.

@tiffanygarrisont: sorry, but I have to disagree with you to some degree. Absolutely maintain the species - but an entire zoo is not needed. 1) conservation areas should be in the animal's native habitat, 2) no other animals (except staff) are allowed in the area, 3) no hunting of any species unless their population is a threat to human, or other species, existence. Africa is growing - we should not tell them how to shape their nations nor their continent. Nonetheless, we can still offer help.

Cincinnati is too small of a city (as is New York City) to support such large animals. There are many other states in the US (as well as countries around the world) which could give these creatures more space. People would have to take a vacation to the zoo just as they do to go to Disneyland. I think that this is our best solution.
