Damn! What the hell happened to rap music? Where are the revolutionaries indeed? Listen to how much impact this has not just sonically but intellectually. Imagine Chuck D debating 50 Cent! 50s head would fall off out of sheer confusion.

I ´d really not call myself a rap-fan, but it´s amazing how the rythm of chuck´s rapping emphazises the beat of the drums or vice versa. Makes you nod your head!

celebrity power given to this part of the music industry turned the stars into megalomaniac icons & it got to most of their heads, making many into "sell outs" - and the rest gave up and went into hiding, rightfully so, imo.

I'm not a rap fan. But God, Public Enemy had all the makings of a fantastic group, rap or otherwise. Just the first lines of this song is enough for me: "I testified/My mama cried/Black people died/When the other man lied." Excellent stuff!
Why can't today's rap music deal with important issues the way Public Enemy did? Why are they reinforcing stereotypes instead of challenging them the way PE did?

Mighty Chuck was slamming corporate greed (Nike), with much more concern and sincerity waaaay before Michael Moore made his dime doing the same thing. Prob is Moore slams corporations in order to build his own. PE did it to enlighten, and educate, and I gotta thank and praise 'em for their truth.
