The more people ... ( 2 months ago by heartofdrakn)
The more people turn off mainstream news, the more people will get educated. There are a lot of trustworthy independent news outlets out there and people should start roving the net instead of plopping down in front of the TV. Once you get the masses educated, as this is happening with the net revolution, critical mass will be achieved. Groups have and will continue to pop up.
As for the violence ... ( 2 months ago by heartofdrakn)
As for the violence part, all nations are built on violence and revolutions. It may happen. Thank the universe for the right to bear arms in the states. The people should fight tooth and nail to keep it because you never know if one day it will be necessary to use them against the man. We are a long way from that I believe. If the vast majority rise up and the government tries to employ violence against the vast majority, the government then loses all its rights and can legally be overthrown.
But then again I do ... ( 2 months ago by heartofdrakn)
But then again I do not advocate violence. I never have and never will. I have learned martial arts but have never used it. I know how to shoot but have never shot after anything living. I am glad though that I know how to do both, just in case.

"critical mass will be achieved"
OK, I am with you. When critical mass is achieved...what do we do? In a hypothetical example; you have educated everyone in the USA about the issues you presented, the vast majority are on board, and want what you want....now what? What do we do? Lead us!
You are missing my ... ( 2 months ago by heartofdrakn)
You are missing my point and this is my fault. Like I said it is hard here to express yourself fully. In your hypothetical situation, everyone is educated. ok. What I am saying is that even before everyone is educated, many groups will already be formed. Many alliances striving for the same things that almost everyone agrees on. The basic points mentioned earlier. These groups will grow organically. There will probably not be one individual but rather a collective mass.
The change will be ... ( 2 months ago by heartofdrakn)
The change will be organic and it will evolve. The zeitgeist will change, or rather, the zeitgeist will emerge from the induced sleep caused by corporate propaganda. I have my soap box, I do not want to lead. But the important thing is to keep the internet neutral and free. otherwise the next four years will not be enough to achieve critical mass. I am also afraid that those in power, will unleash a scorched earth scenario if the people are close to winning.
I guess I am not ... ( 2 months ago by Hopeful71)
I guess I am not expressing my question properly.
"The change will be organic and it will evolve. The zeitgeist will change, or rather, the zeitgeist will emerge from the induced sleep caused by corporate propaganda." Ok...then what? HOW do you change the system of governmental rule? I refer back to my earlier comment; two ways to change: 1.
vote people in charge who will follow the will of the people 2. violently overthrow those in power Which one or what third option?
In case it isn't ... ( 2 months ago by Hopeful71)
In case it isn't obvious the point is when ACTION is taking to actually change the rule of law/system of government/etc, voting at the ballot box is the only non-violent option I can see (or at an individual level one could actually RUN for political office).
If you got another way to change I desperately want to hear it.
Voting in the ... ( 2 months ago by heartofdrakn)
Voting in the current system gets you no where. never did I say voting is wrong. The population can only sound off through a vote. You force the government to have a referendum on whether to abolish the current election system and the creation of a new one. Then the population would vote for an idea and not a person. There would have to be a transition period.
The scholars and ... ( 2 months ago by heartofdrakn)
The scholars and academics would set up a commission. There are possibly other ways. I will say again, the first thing is to wake people up to the illusion. The western powers are as evil as those they are fighting but the populations of every country are mostly goodhearted and well intentioned people. The problems are the top 5% of the population and the strangle hold they have on the rest of us.
Well, OK, so we ... ( 2 months ago by Hopeful71)
Well, OK, so we need to change the system. I agree. And we need to use the power of education AND voting to change that system. We agree.
We have an election coming up; you believe the two major candidates are not going to 'change the system' to grow closer to your utopia. What do we do then? cont...

Skip voting altogether, thereby giving no message to future candidates that these candidates were unacceptable. One of them is going to win one way or the other and the increasing lack of voter turnout is not effecting their campaigns at all. OR-vote for a 3rd party candidate that is at least cl
oser to what you are talking about. You could write in Ron Paul if he isn't on teh ballet. I imagine he will get a significant number whether he is or isnt. cont...

Or if he isn't your cup of tea, pick someone who is, start a YouTube campaign for some fringe person who is closer to you, HELL, vote for yourself. If all the non-voters all started doing this then the future could be now. Just show up and vote for anyone and when the results come back 26% for c
andidate A, 24% for candidate B, and 50% for various random people...well in 4 years you would see REAL 3rd party candidates looking to capitize on that "none of the above" vote. cont...

But if you simple skip voting all together then no voice of dis-satisfaction is heard, nothing changes. The politicians of today don't care if only 10% of the people vote...as long as the get the majority of that 10%. The 90% get nothing because they 'said' nothing. A 'non-vote' is not a threat
to those in power. In fact, they like having less people to worry about catering to/deceiving.
If 90% would not ... ( 2 months ago by heartofdrakn)
If 90% would not vote it would show they are awake. With the Internet, mainstream media and the government would be forced to reckon this new situation. People would then strike a blow at the system. There would most assuredly be a succession of blows to the system that would force it to reform massively. I do believe that the Internet is forcing a new age of enlightenment. Some may laugh considering the amount of garbage on found on the net but...

...but the Internet is allowing people to freely communicate. To access knowledge that was inaccessible before. Discuss ideas, expose the lies. Ordinary people now have the power to publish to millions about their views or exposing corporate lies. Human beings have never wielded such great power ever before in history. The last time this happened in History was the invention of the printing press and you know how that changed the world: Out with the old and in with the new

Last post: I am telling you that I feel we are at a crossroad. The banks and corporations will try everything to lock up this world in their greedy little hands and they will try anything to stop this new enlightenment that is happening. The Internet and communication is the key. Knowledge is everything. Knowledge is power. The next 5 years will be a rollercoaster, that I am sure. nice talking with ya
Well as this is our ... ( 2 months ago by Hopeful71)
Well as this is our last communication :) I will say I still 99% agree with what you are saying; communication is the key, the internet is a MASSIVE tool to achieving this, & the powers that be are threatened by it & want to limit it as much as possible.
But ultimatly communcation & the free exchange of ideas is useless without action. We can blog until our fingers fall off but that will change NOTHING without action resulting from those ideas. Voting is the most obvious action, choose yours

Not forever, but for now this is really my final post. I have to finish up my work then off to bed. I will say this, you cannot possibly achieve anything by voting for presidential candidates that are all working for the same master. That achieves nothing. You need to waken people then they shall lead the charge.

heartofdrakn: "The Internet and communication is the key." That's why we need to put network neutrality at the top of the issues list! Well, maybe after global warming, but definitely second! OK, after global warming and impeachment, but that's it! OK - global warming, impeachment, restoring the Constitution and then network neutrality! Sigh... global warming, impeachment, restoring the Constitution, getting out of Iraq - and THEN ABSOLUTELY network neutrality!! (damn - brain overload)

I would say net neutrality and reforming the media is number one. Why? Because with these two things, people will awaken completely. People will be in contact. People will be educated. Then and only then can all the great changes happen.

I don't agree with Carlin in this one. I believe elections are ridged but if more people show on the polls there can be a difference. Example) Gore and Bush(2000 Elections) Gore won but lost because of the electoral vote. The gov. picks their puppet to be president and this is bullshit. The electoral system doesn't work it should be who wins the popular vote and not just by each states.

the reason the system is a mess is because we allowed it.Americans, for the most part, are apathetic zombies who consume and conform, the way their gov't wants them to behave.
Change people in order to change the system.
