One of the things that I love about animated as a line is that the line knows they are toys, they are not pretending to be anything else. Much like a pixar film or a Nintendo game however they acknowledge the underpinning intelligence than can exist in the creative aesthetic, the engineering and emotional response a toy can create. They re-create some of that magic that transcends both child and adult. maybe I'm romanticising it a but but its how I see it anyway.

Im guessing that the leader class toys aren't out here yet as the largest I've seen is the voyagers. I've exhausted Toys R Us of all their animated except the battle begins and am now on the hut for others scattered around england. I agree with you on these guys they are fantastic and they even have trisah hooked who also gave the reason she loved them as that you cant see the reverse mode when they are transformed. 5 stars for a wondeful review and explanation on your love for these guys

I completely agree. When I look at the animated line, I get that feeling I had as a kid wandering the toy aisle for Transformers back in G1's glory days. Unlike the previous toy lines, with the exception of Classics and Beast era, the transformations are as involved, if not more so, than G1. The colors and designs pop off the shelf at you, making them very eye-catching for kids. As we all well know, the kids are who they are aimed at, and I want them buying these toys so the line can continue.

Heya Ray! I know in the review you said Bulkhead has a good amount of articulation, but does his head stationary unless you press the button on his chest? I've never seen in any of his reviews somebody move it manually, and I'm just curious. :-)

the head will move manually but unfortunately it won't stay in that position. it'll move automatically to the forwards position. ray

If Cybertron/Galaxy Force Prime (look at his windshield in truck mode) had a child with Crumplezone it would look like Bulkhead :)

So far my only issue with the animated line is quality control. My Starscream's fingers keep coming off and he has a big black 'beauty mark' on his face. Also Prime from the 2 pack could not center his torso at the waist, so I had to open him up and shave down a plastic part. Haven't checked Megatron yet but I hope he's ok.

I love this guy already, and the Internet fueled Headmaster just makes it all the much better!!!! I could not help but notice however that there is not much of a size difference between Voyager and Leader Bulkhead while they are in car mode, What is up with that??

Gorgeous toy, can't wait till the leaders show up in stores here. I too was iffy about Animated at first, but slowly fell for them. I've got a big heap of the toys now and it's been an absolute joy messing about with them, they're just immaculate toys. Now if only I could do some damned videos and give my opinions on them, but oh well And yes, a relief that he doesn't have missile bits that fly across the room! Great look at him here, definitely gonna be a must-buy for me

You are 100% correct when you say the movie line was a return to form. As for Bulkhead I think he is my favorite character, I must get his toys.
