Sophia to a sock puppet: "Tough break. One minute your about to entertain the masses, next minute your on a foot, covering a corn pad. Now you know how Valerie Harper feels" I never understood that line till I read up on her!

Jason Bateman: Yum. ;) I remember being traumatised by this show, when they killed off Valerie. It was a kids' show, and they killed off one of the main characters. I always found Sandy Duncan irritating.

I loved how old shows used to have properly written and produced songs as their theme. Same with 80's cartoons! Now it's all crap...omg, I think I just sounded like my father.
Yes maiden I agree ... ( 4 months ago by occfireball)
Yes maiden I agree 80 shows was very good. 80s shows was probably the best decade of tv history. And yes maiden tv today is full of crappy reality tv and shows that aint worth my time. and the old shows from the past that made tv great is fading because tv stations are the next genaration would hate it. instead they show these useless tasteless realtiy crap tv shows. even yv land is turning its back on classic tv slowly but surly. its time for us people from the good age of tv to stand up.

Tv shows like this is fading. we need to take a stand before its to late. this is why our nation is in a downward move to the pits of hell. because crappy shows they show today only pomote sex volince, and other things like that. I grow in a time when things was simple. good moral what people stood for in tv shows. back then we didnt have to have tv ratings to tell you what shows oon tv was for kids are teens and stuff like that. because tv was pure then and now it is of the devil himseld. 80sya

All I have to say ... ( 4 months ago by GaryVonGary)
All I have to say is to look at the credits as to who is writing/producing/directing shows of today vs. shows of yesterday. Pay attention to their particular ethnicity/religion/race and then you can go further than your little judgment call.

I think she asked for more money in her contract and boycotted until they gave into her demands or at least a comprimise. I think they did come up with a comprimise, but then suddenly decided they didn't like the way she'd been acting and gave her the boot, replacing her with Sandy Duncan. I remember being a little miffed about the replacement. Whatever.

When I was a kid I used to think Jason Bateman was a jackass, judging by his roles on Silver Spoons and his show. Unfortunately I didn't know about the short-lived It's Your Move, where the seeds of his later brilliance where actually sowed. Sorry I ever doubted you, Jason.

yes, that was actually a pretty big deal, I think NBC was the first network to actually record in stereo. If I'm not mistaken The Tonight Show might very first to broadcast in stereo. A Joan Rivers hosted episode if I'm not mistaken!

I used to watch these shows with my brother, the behaviour is so realistic and you can relate it to your daily life. But now all you get to see is, the uncultured, crappy so called "Reality Shows" which is horrible. Also listen to language used back then it was pleasant compared to the horrible T.V shows today. Man I miss the '80s.

I think ABC was recording in Stereo around the same time. I don't think CBS did until 1988 or 1989

JUDITH KAHAN gets her credit during the airplane shot. Total ripoff to the one and only talent of Ms. Kahan, the oil can of the tv sitcom industry.

I miss em too. It's like having a bad case of ADHD trying to watch tv nowadays. Back in the day, even if you hated the show, you ALWAYS tuned in for the theme song.. Maybe if they brought it back, tv shows now wldn't hit the chopping block so soon; especially with all these lame shows getting axed before the 4th ep.

I've always loved how Valerie caught the football at the start, it was original and fun, much like her!
