As a kid, I couldn't wait for Nintendo 64 to launch. I was quite the nerdy fanboy, if I do say so myself. I wrote PLAY IT LOUD with white-out on my backpack to support the SNES back in the early to mid 1990's. Remember that being their slogan at the time? I sure do.
I bet you remember: "Get N or Get Out" I'm sure you do. Anyway, as a Nintendo purist, I defended them no matter what... but it was difficult to do so when Nintendo 64 struggled to compete with the Sony Playstation. No matter what, I loved the system. Here, I talk about a defunct Next Generatio
n Magazine issue, which I consider infamous, and how correct its forecast on the N64 was... and more importantly, how wrong it turned out to be. Please rate, comment, subscribe, and video respond. Just participate! :) -AG NOTE: Next Generation no longer exists.

the nintendo 64 started the idea of having CD games but the reason the 64 had cartrage games is because they last longer than CDs(and they were right look at how many playstation games survived compared 2 64 games) so thay soled that idea 2 sony but when the next generation of gameing came they knew that CDs were cheaper had beter grafics if they could they would still would b useing carteages

i would still rather play in the arcade on some occasions. one reason being because they got the cool lil gun controlers that are rockin awesome!

Once, i dropped all my n64 cartridges from a 2 meter shelf while trying to move it. They still work perfectly, and i fully support the desicion to make cartridge based games.

I completely agree that the N64 revolutionized gaming and it had some epic games that are still great today. I definitely think the N64 was better than the Gamecube, cuz the only two games for the GC I really liked are SSBM and Animal Crossing, which ironically was GOING to be an N64 game originally! lol.
I recall waiting for what felt like forever for the N64 as a kid. I actually went grocery shopping with my mom because there was a Mario 64 demo at the Blockbuster that was right next door!

I don't think the 64 Blur had a problem. I could tell what I was looking at. With PS1, sometimes I can't see far into the distance. In Twisted Metal, everything looks like a bunch of pixels in the distance.

I bought a N64 at a garage sale for 8$ so I don't really care if it was that great. My biggest problem with the N64 though, is that it seems EVERYONEs lists of best games are too much the same. I keep hearing the same things over and over again when I ask people what the best games are. PS1 has a lot of games that I never even heard about that are good games.

N64 did 2D graphics really badly too, I don't even think there was a purely 2D platformer on the N64. But PS1 did 2D really well, and it has a lot of great 2D platformers and fighting games.

i have had an N64 for about 11 years and i still play it all the time. the games are great and these days, very cheap too. in my opinion it is better than a gamecube, an xbox or a wii.

N64 is the BEST system EVER! the only reason it lost is cause the price! $60 for N64 games and only a mear $10 or so for PSX.

is the n64 good? sure. is it the best console ever or better than the psx/saturn? not by a long shot. mario and zelda don't make a console, a well rounded library does. the n64 didn't have one, and that's why it was second place in the states and a distant third in japan. why limit yourself to the same games you've been playing for 12 years+ when you have a plethora of amazing titles for the saturn (though most are imports) and other consoles not made by nintendo? kinda seems silly to me.

one the reason n64 had cartridges was so that nintendo could charge royalty fees on each game made. third party companies had to pay an $x amount per cartridge directly to nintendo. and yeah some of the games were ridiculously expensive. In canada when turok came out I remember it being $105. That's because it had the biggest rom size at that time. other games were usually around $60-70

NOTHING is wrong with the Gamecube :O ^^ I still play on my beloved N64 today. But also my GC and PS2. All great consoles. But the real problem is that Nintendo always had the better quality standards. Sony's disc drive was a mess, the PS2 one's even worse! I never had problems with Nintendo's cartridges or the GC discs.

the N64 is my favorite console ( especially for Rogue Squadron) but the gamecube had brilliant graphics shown by rogue leader I'm sad that all the games released for wii haven't had as good graphics as some games for the gamecube. I think gamecube failed because of animal crossing the graphics for that game were really crappy that made people think " we don't want to make bad graphics like that!" so nintendo didn't get much third party games.
