When I heard the song, "What Hurts The Most" by Rascal Flatts, I thought 'This is Duckie's song.' Pretty in Pink is a great 80s teen flick and Duckie (Jon Cryer) made the show. I didn't think the ending was horrible; I actually liked it, but I hated what they did to our Duckie. He deserved at least a pretty decent ending. I mean, the girl of his dreams walks away and suddenly Kristy Swanson pops up, makes goo-goo eyes at him? Man.. that's just wrong.

you know at first, the made the movie ending with Andie and Duckie ending up together? and then they showed it to the practice audience, but they thought that she should've ended up with Blane, so they changed it and put her with blane. That's why if you look at Blane during that last prom scene, he has different hair, because he had already started fliming another movie in which he had to shave his head. lol so he's wearing a wig.

Andie's dress was the ugliest thing I ever seen - even for the 80s! I also agree with everyone that she should have chosen Duckie but Andrew McCarthy was one of the "it" actors then, so he had to get the girl I suppose.

Interesting how the debate between who she shoulda wound up with continues to this day.
The thing I got from this was that in the end the " Duck Man " proved he was the real man and was the most classy by telling her to go with Blane. To be that much in love but to have the guts to tell the girl of your dreams....Hey you should go with this other guy instead of me...That takes some real class. Double ouch....been there done that !

I always feel bad for Duckie in this movie. Here's a fun fact: At 3:30, that's not his hand. I have the DVD and they said they had to reshoot, so someone else did that little bit.

In my experience if woman likes a guy only as a friend, she can't force herself to be romantically involved even if he deserves it. She will rather have short time relationship with somebody who deserves it less, but she feels really attracted. Andy's father was trying to explain it to Duckie.

I think that Duckie much better of meeting a girl who was interested in him than Andie stayed with him out of gratitude. He would end up as her father. She was clearly not in love with Duckie. It is not something which she can force.
