Yes, life's shit... Now how about doing something about it? You can cease buying from major companies like Nike! When you buy from Nike, you are contributing to their MASSIVE profit, and they will continue to exploit any chance they can to maximize this profit, which means continuing the use of sweatshops like the one illustrated here. You CAN do something. It's not hopeless. Just look for items that weren't made in Third World countries. It's not enough to just be sympathetic. We must act!

I can sympathize with a lot of what you're saying, but did it ever occur to you that an ideal world is not one where money is given generously or where people go broke donating to poor African people? I happen to believe that an ideal world is not one with money in it, where people have economic and political self-determination (direct democracy, collectivist/voluntarist economics, etc.) and where the system itself is addressed rather than the perpetual problems inherent in that system.

In those same places, people could be producing things for themselves, rather than for rich, dictatorial owners. Picture yourself living on a primitive desert island, and someone comes along and gives you one fish every three days in return for handmade goods that take dozens of hours to make. The person has hundreds of fishing poles, and the knowledge to make and use them, but he only gives you a few fish. This is the situation we have in the world. But hey, it's better than it was, right?
