| To appreciate this wonderful aria, listen to Ira Petina sing it on the CD with the original 1956 cast. The aria should project the miseries of the Old Lady's life, not the gay Gypsy chorus presented here. Still it is fun to hear any group who sings the song "in a human language," a phrase from the Old Lady's complaints describing her past. |

| this girl has a wonderful voice but this interpretation is all wrong. the piece is intended to be hilarious, and not sexy. it just kind of clashes with the lyrics and the rest of the plot in candide. |
