Apparently this was a tribute to Kurt Cobain.
R.E.M singer Micheal Stipe liked Kurt alot and like many other people felt horrible when Kurt died.

Yes, Stipe tried to get Kurt to leave Seattle and come to GA to record with REM. It was his way of trying an Intervention. It was especially bad when Kurt and Courtney were in the custody battle for Frances. Written about Cobain, could have been about any one of us.

Dude,I don't believe in God. But I do believe that your soul lives on after you die and you find a more tranquil place.
And Jimi Hendrix believed in God. Kurt Cobain became Baptist before he died. And I don't know for sure about Morrison.
But if there even is a God he'd have let Kurt and Jimi up there because Kurt was Baptised before he died and Jimi was a Christian.
Honestly it doesn't matter though. I personally like to believe that they're in a better place making music.
