| This video is both good and bad. It's bad because it's alarmist. The bill only establishes a committee; the bill does not give law enforcement any new powers. Read the bill for yourself and you'll see that I'm telling the truth. On the other hand, the video is good because it demonstrates just how much power we who use the internet have harnessed. | What about Padilla? Padilla's predicament has nothing to do with the proposed bill, which is the subject of this thread. If you want to get worked up over something, work to abolish the Patriot Act and The Military Commissions Act. This would help actually Padilla. This bill merely establishes a commission (a study group), and as I stated earlier, this bill gives the police NO new powers--none, zilch, zip, nada. Read the damned bill, instead of falling for alarmist BS. |

If you want to point your finger at the real problem, look no further than the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act, which are real laws that give police and the courts unheard of power to act unconstitutionally against all Americans citizens, not a mere bill under consideration by Congress.
