Gas turbine go kart test running on 100% diesel

Uploaded by: mightyfinejonboy
Video Description:
now running on diesel ,rather than propane as b4,propane is still used as a pilot light during starting and will fit a quick release for this in future.fuel nozzle is 5gph but using 735psi fuel pressure rather than the intended designed 100 psi.a bit smoky at low boost running,as this is at a lot less than the designed fuel pressure for the nozzle.will need to fit a bigger nozzle to reach max rpm (52000) at approx 2 bar boost(p2)only got to 1.5~bar in testing.sorry about the poor camera work:-)dash needs to be finished etc.

hi,the intake does normally have a large sieve as a air filter, and as i am quite tall ,the intake is near my elbow, but there is plenty of clearance anyway,it just looks like it is close in the vid

cool concept but a boring video i mean come on man 8 minuets of sitting on a trailer and no road time 1 star sorry but try to make it a little more intersting but it looks like you have done a great job on the cart . lets see that thing in action
hi thanks for your ... ( 3 months ago by mightyfinejonboy)
hi thanks for your comment, yes the vid is simply part of it's ongoing development build,so not a lot happening as yet.been very busy with a complete rebuild of fuel and oil systems with a few improvements for safety and reliability.and hope to get a vid of her on the "road" by summer. regards Jon

cool i cant wait too see it in action and i can understand about the safety and reliability thats 1st and foremost good luck with and hope to see some cool videos soon

why not use higly flamable/explosive jet feuel!!! hehe u guys are gona need 2 separate ur slvs from the engin cause i could splode!!! i alos sugest racing seat belts and a roll cage is ur using a engin like dat i mean im no scientist but that wat someone with comin sence would use =P
I think the haters ... ( 3 months ago by g0fvt)
I think the haters need to remember that these engines are damn noisy so you can't sensibly run them at home. So it makes sense to take it away on the trailer and monitor the engine properly before driving it. Very tricky to watch exhaust gas temperatures, rpm and oil pressure on a moving kart!
hi thanks for your ... ( 3 months ago by mightyfinejonboy)
hi thanks for your comment, yup it is not been built to be entertaining, and simply for fellow enthusiasts who have or are contemplating doing something similar, the amount of development and rebuilding takes a long time, waiting for parts has took months and nothing can be done until they arrive.unless anyone has took the time and effort to build there own creation, they can never understand what is required to get good reliable performance, never mind just making it run!!!

Great test run. 99% of the time and effort in building this stuff is testing. R&D.

hi im considering on building my own turbo jet, could you tell me how much the jet parts in total cost you thanks
hi,the cost depends ... ( 2 months ago by mightyfinejonboy)
hi,the cost depends on how much development is required to get the required results you hope to achieve and what materials and fittings you use.you can make them very cheaply, but mine has cost thousands.but this is due to several rebuilds of systems to get the required performance and reliability as well as the most important part...safety.

i'm build my 2nd jet engine turbine from a small car turbo-charger, can you please tell me what are those meters at the front, also how do you see engines rotation? on my 1rst turbine i've used a small motorcycle alternator and a high frequency multimeter and the calculate by the input frequency coming from the alternator, driven by the turbine, then calculate how many cycles the engine was doing in a second, and then i would calculate how much rpm it was going.
hi the meters at ... ( 2 months ago by mightyfinejonboy)
hi the meters at the front are for oil temp/pressure,fuel pressure and p2/boost pressure.the multi meters are for t4/egt there are two of those to get a average exhaust gas temp.
i use a hand held tach to get the max rpm readings at a given fuel and p2 pressure.

Thanks, also can you please tell me to where did you "linked" your pressure meters to? did you linked them to the combustion chamber for example?
hi i just put a ... ( 2 months ago by mightyfinejonboy)
hi i just put a connection to the turbo outlet to combustor pipe, the reading is purely relative and is just a means to get a p2/boost to rev reading for the tach.the fuel pressure was just taken off the main feed line to the injector
