Building on the narrative in the track, we follow our characters through their travels and added a back story to create a more dramatic arc, resulting in something a little more twisted.

It's pretty much up for interpretation. Ladytron say in their interveiw they like the fact that their songs are vague so the fans are free to interpret it the way they want. To me, it seems like a breakup.
