Lightening Up

Uploaded by: forwardunity
Video Description:
my rant about black women entertainers who don't represent for anything. We "fist up" all the time talking about black is beautiful but then run around with hair weaves that are blonde. Looking like Paris Hilton wannabees. Farce.

I think you are ... ( 5 months ago by astmapiippu)
I think you are right in many ways, but its also true that ALL females in entertainment try to chance their outlook to something unnatural. The problem is in the entertainment industry, Hollywood, plastic surgery etc. I think blond hair can look fine, if woman is looking biracial, but if woman is very black then blonde hair looks often stupid.

"It's about pleasing yourself."It's sad how SUPERFICIAL u speak.UobviouslyDONTunderstand the vid.Unstable ppl w/ unhealthy self esteem are easily influenced into feeling inadequate when they see and give in to the SEA of ads that flood us daily!AND will FOREVER be MENTALLY, EMOTIONALLY,
FINANCIALLY SHACKLED to the companies
"Media Pimps" that sell
promote unhealthy unnecessary products, as they "PLEASE THEMSELVES" just as the FADS change swiftly. We should be ourselves

a HIDEOUS heart speak like you do. May God have mercy on your soul and bless you.
Most of us are ... ( 4 months ago by greensatva)
Most of us are mixed (biracial or multi-cultural) whether we know it or not, and we should accept ALL of our ancestors' past EQUALLY. (cuz we can't change what happened already!) This is a big part of accepting ourselves. If Alicia Keys has both African and English heritage per say, she should and we should all accept BOTH sides of her ancestry EQUALLY. Aren't we ALL human beings, no matter what's our race(s)?!
I am being myself ... ( 4 months ago by crystrill)
I am being myself and I do live within my means. Maybe YOU need to get YOUR money right. How is pleasing myself superficial? How is wanting something because I genuinely like it, not because I saw someone with it, being superficial? We all want nice things. Why should I be labeled superficial because I want these things? And if I can afford it, why the hell not? What's wrong with buying my beauty products? I want clear skin.
I buy makeup ... ( 4 months ago by crystrill)
I buy makeup because I love colors, not because I am "giving in" to someone else's idea of beauty. When I straighten or curl my hair it's because I'm bored and want to do something new with it.

You don't seem to be able to picture many things. Not even understanding this empowering video and it's strong message. I have many friends, but the quantity of friends means nothing. It's the QUALITY,INTEGRITY, and the beautiful MIND and PERSONALITY of the friends that REALLY matter. *sigh!* I have nothing left to say to you or people who speak like you do. ~God bless you! :) Big up Najahface

She isn't talking about people who have naturally light hair or natually light skin. She's talking about women who change their hair color and etc.. to just fit in or be accepted. I agree I think we should all be happy with what we got

Not all black women ... ( 2 months ago by lovelygoldensparrow)
Not all black women wear blonde or light weave.
And some black women just wear lighter hair just b/c they like it,not because the want to be something they arent. What if light is the way the girl is born an she chooses blonde hair b/c she just wants to wear it for a while, not b/c she feels she has to. Would that be something that would make u upset?
Im definetely not ... ( 2 months ago by lovelygoldensparrow)
Im definetely not trying to down ur ideas b/c I feel where u r coming from. But what if u need a job and ur hair is "nappy" and the boss looks at u and thinks "I dont think so".
It wont matter how foxy u feel, cause youll be jobless. Now,Im not condoning black women or girls to be anything but the lovely creatures they are,but life is harsh and unforgiving. And im sure u feel where Im coming from.
I agree with this ... ( 2 months ago by Indigochild1)
I agree with this video. Beauty comes in all colours and shapes.
But I think a lot of it is to do with the belief that "the grass is greener on the other side". Women nearly always want to look different to how they naturally look, in terms of hair, skin, weight etc. This is by no means something that only black women do.

i agree with you. just because someone dyes ther hair dosent mean they want to be white or hispanic. i straighten, curl
relax my hair b/c i like the way it looks, not b/c im trying to b someone else.
