It's a matter of personal taste. On my opinion, there were lots of great musicians that came after them. Just because you're first in something, doesn't mean you're the best.

The choice of music is determined by the personal philosophy. That I don't find Beatles' music inspiring goes back to the fact that it's written by juvenile rebels. They had no idea of the world, but they just wished to rebel against it, just like all teenagers love to do.
Rebelling didn't lead to anything, so I prefer more deep-going tunes than that. Say, Marc Cohn. The rest of the world can disagree, so "let it be". I am a non-conformist, but by no means a person lacking musical taste.

no, i heard that she had bad eyes and needed glasses, the bare feet was to help her negotiate the stage easily, wires, cables etc, and the edge i suppose, lol,
but it became her trademark at the time.
