Terry Wogan called ... ( 4 months ago by avonlea4ever)
Terry Wogan called Bosnian performer Laka "the clown" and his back-vocals "Frankenstein's bridesmaids". Whatever! Jealousy is one thing (Bosnia and Herzegovina was 10th in the finals), but everything has its limits!

i cant believe what people are saying! terry wogan is one of the last decent people in this country. would you REALLY rather have a gay comedian talking through all the songs trying to promote his/her show? i am definetly sure i wouldn't.
It means Turkey, ... ( 3 months ago by BGrade15)
It means Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan etc all voting for one another, not because of their songs but because they're near eachother.

"Wogan is the only celeb paid for Children In Need" ... put that into a Google search and tell me you still think Terry Wogan is an honorable man. Terry Wogan is a money grabbing, overpaid arsehole and his opinion counts for nothing.

He's one of the many reasons why people watch the contest! for those people who say the UK is jealous its a case of the UK and many western nations not getting an equal playing field! i cant see the bosnia'n song winnig nothing more than the ludicrous vote! its funny how those nations didnt seem to mind us hosting the contest when no others would in the 70's, and funding the thing! Now its a slap in the face! RIP Eurovision

aye know wat u mean mate - i remember reading quite a while back last years tv figures in the uk had dropped { i assume it happened this year too} - i think bbc would need to throw more money at Wogan to keep him happy, because i cant see many people tuning in at this current rate if Wogan steps down.

Wogan charity fee ... ( 2 months ago by HoraceOflaherty)
Wogan charity fee defended by BBC The BBC has said it is "not ashamed" of paying Sir Terry Wogan a fee for hosting the annual Children In Need charity fund-raising gala. Sir Terry, who is the only celebrity to receive a fee, has been paid since he began presenting the show in 1980. A BBC spokeswoman said the payment was "never remotely commercial" and came from the programme's budget and not from charitable funds.
Documents which ... ( 2 months ago by HoraceOflaherty)
Documents which were released to The Mail On Sunday newspaper under the Freedom of Information Act showed that Sir Terry received
£9,065 in 2005 for anchoring the seven-hour extravaganza. The BBC's spokeswoman said the payment was an "honorarium" for Sir Terry's services and had "never been negotiated", but added that it had risen in line with inflation.
Sir Terry, who ... ( 2 months ago by HoraceOflaherty)
Sir Terry, who reputedly earns
£800,000 a year for hosting Radio 2's breakfast show, said last year that the BBC was paying too much for stars who would work for the corporation regardless of salary.
Being from USA I ... ( 2 months ago by zekretzpy)
Being from USA I dont have any particular favorite country to win the ESC! Was greatly disappointed that IceLand failed to win the contest in 2008, because I thought "This is my Life" was much better than all the other choices that I listened to on YouTube. Im begining to wonder if its better for the western countries of Europe to hold a different song contest separate from the eastern counties, considering the language as well as political and cultural differences between the east and west.
Ireland gave ... ( 2 months ago by pavlova55)
Ireland gave nothing to UK in 2003 and likewise UK gave the same to Ireland in 2007. And deservedly so. It goes to show that both countries can be discerning, unlike some other nations which would still award the top votes to their neighbours or ex-pats, even if they stood on the stage and sang the phone book for 3 minutes.
That was a reply to ... ( 2 months ago by pavlova55)
That was a reply to Horace Oflaherty.
pavlova55 - What ... ( 2 months ago by HoraceOflaherty)
pavlova55 - What forces people to vote "to their neighbours or ex-pats, even if they stood on the stage and sang the phone book for 3 minutes." ? What unseen force do you believe makes people to do that? If you can explain the subterfuge going on, then maybe I can begin to understand the point you are making. Because, frankly, I would rather listen to someone sing an East European phonebook than listen to "Daz Sampson", "Scooch" or "Andy Abraham".
Please put "Why the ... ( 2 months ago by HoraceOflaherty)
Please put "Why the Eurovision bloc voting theory is bogus" into a Google search, and all (at least as far as I am understanding it) will be explained. Terry Wogan is a pied piper who plays a nice tune - but it isn't one you would be well advised to follow.
