I never said Clapton played a Jazzmaster for a "considerable length of time". I said he played one, and he did. He also played a Tele. Look it up, it was when he was with the Yardbirds.

he played a tele with the yardbirds for sure. also, the strat he used and made famous wasn't an Eric Clapton Artist Model now was it? so if you want to sound like him why spend a sh*tloads of money to get one. get a standard strat instead.

this doesn't sound fat at all... really if you took a standard tele with single coils and dialed in your tone correctly it would sound exactly this this guy... btw he isn't that good...

The pickups on the reissue are not constructed the same and I can easily hear it. They use bar magnets instead of threaded pole-piece magnets. They are wound to about 8K unlike the old ones, which average about 10.5K.

You can learn from other's experience and get different performance to suit your needs. It is easier than creating fresh music, though. I like having examples of instruments to listen to. They can vary hugely from model to model.

your totally right on that but people just yack before they try it out and all we want to do is just listen to the guitar not them!

I have a Telecaster book that says they're wound with 42 gauge polysol coated wire. It also says the total turns of both coils is 10000(5000 each). The resistance spec is 10.6K.

clapton overrated - quite possible, blues isnt technically that difficult but hendrix? as a guitarist? in technique, a lot of his stuff issimple, but iwouldntwant to bethe one composing it. he was a creative genius, mostly because he didnt stick to convention +1 for the fender collection though, i hate you now strats are overrated, but jazzmasters? hideously complicated...

I heard the neck is larger than a standard tele...even larger than a SG or Les paul guitar.
