"Rescue Me" is a video about shelter dogs. In a stricter sense, it's a video about German Shepherd Dogs in shelters.
Over 25% of shelter dogs are purebred, and many others are so-called "designer" breeds. Most shelter dogs are not "problem" dogs. They are dumped because they're from an accidental litter, because people move or no longer have time for them, or because people never bother to do even the most basic
training like housebreaking. The dogs in this video are REAL shelter dogs. The images are from the rescue forums on the German Shepherd website, www.germanshepherds.com. Where the dogs are identified by name in the video, those are the dog's real (owner or shelter-given) names. Some of the dogs in
this video were rescued and you can see their happy endings at the end of the video. Some of them were put to sleep. This video may be freely used and distributed by ANY rescue, or any person raising awareness to shelter dog s and rescues. However, you may not alter or cut the video in any way. T

That video was absolutely wonderdul and very powerful. I am a volunteer at the animal control and see this everyday. It's a sad feeling but I promote people to come visit the animal shelter. I just wished more people would consider adopting from a shelter.

you shouldn't get a dog just for protection. In reality the owners are supposed to protect the dog, not the other way around.

I can't get the video to play but I am familiar with the rescue organization. It's a better way to adopt if you rn't a single person with no family. The rescue interviews you and your family with their contingent of rescued sheps in mind. You really have to consider a lot when you have special needs children, or kids at all. pound pups have no history to go on!

All dogs - puppies, purebreds, pre-owned dogs, strays, shelter dogs - can be trained at any age. Most shelters will perform some type of temperament test or will screen potential adopters so that the dog is a good match for that particular household. Even the most highly trained, socialized, docile dog has the potential to defend himself against unwanted probing/grabbing/poking by an unsupervised child of any ability or dis-ability.

I am a voenter.I do my best to save as many animals as possible!!Where I live there are lots of strays.I take care of them and some kittens. When I have helped or saved a animal, I just get so happy. Cuz they have a beter chance to make it out there. Im only 12. But I can make some diffrence. Every one can.You just need a big heart.BUT THERE IS one thing I hate to hear. Thats "we cant save them all". People try 2 save every one when some 1 is hert. Why should it change 4 a animal?

I was sent this video to view because I took some of the pictures that are shown , just wanted to let you know that Simone, who I rescued and boarded & for a bit, you have pictured DID go to a GSD rescue last year,then there is a close up of a dog right after you have the text "some are only identified by a number".His name was Silver by us , we pulled him from a high kill shelter ,boarded him as well,and he was sent to a GSD rescue,just wanted to let you know that both have happy tails !

What a wonderful video ! I think the music does fantastic justice to these fantastic creatures and especially this lovely breed. I grew up with Alsatians - and although I don't have one of my own right now - I can definitely attest to their loyal and outgoing nature.

I guess people associate them with police work, and there possibly might be demands associated with taking on a poorly treated and consequently nervous dog. What's unforgiveable in my eyes is ditching them once they require a little kindness in return. All it needs is a modicum of foresight before taking on this friendly animal.

We could all help by trying to drive out the selfish w***ers who breed another litter of pups just to make a quick profit and dont care if thres homes for them or who they go to as long as they have the cash.
If you know someone who fits this catagory, go tell them what a piece of worthless S**T they are today

That is so sad! I think it is so discouraging when people need to buy a dog from a breeder when there are plenty of good dogs out there that need a home. I am happy to say I took two off the streets and into my home. They are the best dogs ever and couldn't of asked for more!

Go to your local shelter and make a pact with yourself to break out one of the German Shepherd inmates. I had Penny for 9 years, I remember the day we met at the shelter, I remember the night she died. I am not sorry for our years, they were gravy. I went soon after and chose another dog from the choices at the pound, and I have my Aussie cattle dog. I couldn't have another shepherd right away. But someday I hope to have another and it WILL be a SHELTER RESCUE. I visit, one choice. Life.

great video!!! we have had shepherds for years the last rescue 6 months ago. he is 8 years old and was going to be put to sleep as unmanagable and agressive with love and attention he has turned around 100%. As much abuse as he went through he is so forgiving and gives us so much love. If people would research breeds before they comitted to a puppy there would be alot less in shelters. shelters are an excellent place to find a loving family pet.
