Oh how the once mighty have now fallen. 46 years later and Longbridge is closed, MG, Austin, Morris, Wolseley and Riley are owned by the Chinese, and the Mini brand along with the Cowley plant are owned by the Germans. What a shame.

same with over 70 percent of the worlds motorsport teams including subaru mitsubishi
ford and on and on!
usa nascar and indy cars are all built and designed in uk aswell
the best us car the gt40 is a british car aswell.

Good valid point there, and I can't help feeling that if BMC didn't buy Pressed Steel in 1965, thus creating British Leyland in 1968, then the great marques which you have mentioned would have survived to this day. BL was too massive and too incoherent. Mike S.

It is an anglo-american penchant for quick profits and under-investment that killed the UK car industry and is killing the American industry. German and Asian workers aren't better- their company's management are better and focused on getting the best product out at their respective price points because quality sells.
