We've noticed that people don't have any idea what (or where) we're talking about when we mention that we recently traveled to Chernobyl & Pripyat. Pripyat is a completely modern abandoned city about 2km from Chernobyl, inside of the Chernobyl exclusion zone, in Ukraine. Over 20 years ago (26 April, 1986), there was an accident in one of the nuclear reactors there that became the worst technological disaster in history. We got some really fantastic footage of both cities as well as the reactor. When we put the film together, we thought it would be helpful to include some information about what happened. Here's the final product.
This footage of Chernobyl and Pripyat was filmed on August 7, 2007 by Jason Strain. Narration is by Laura Corliss. Music by Brokenkites.

| it is because first of all not all the people evacuated and there were also soldiers there and people that were sent there to clean up and stuff, so they all started getting into people's houses, hospitals, etc. and take everything that could be useful for them some of the things they took they sold them some others they used. My heart aches when I recall Chernobyl. There's a great book about it, about testimonials of people that lived that: Voices from Chernobyl by Svetlana Alexievich. |

| You and me both, tours lasting more than one days are available not only Chernobyl but Pripyat and I will be in one someday, I promise you that. History is extemely important. It's not only fun to study but helps provide valuable clues making it easier to avoid repeating past mistakes (such a total nuclear power plant disaster resulting in hundreds of lives lost, millions of dollars in man-made and enviromental damage and serious loss of personal property. |
